What is Ethanol with additives?

Ethanol with additives, or alcohol with additives, is nothing more than the already known fuel derived from sugarcane with the addition of detergent additives, which allow the cleaning of the car engine, in a similar way to what is done with gasoline with additives.

The promise is that this compound can also clean the engine in order to extend the useful life of the system, after all, residues (when not cleaned) wear out the engineering and accelerate the deterioration process.

Origin

The first brand that started selling ethanol with additives was Shell, with the brand “Shell V-Power Ethanol”. According to the brand, this fuel has three different objectives:

1. Cleaning

By removing residues from the valves and injector nozzles, ethanol with additives improves the passage of fuel inside the engine.

2. Protection

The ethanol additive facilitates the movement of the engine’s internal parts, reducing friction and consequently increasing the protection of the components and making them more efficient.

3. Performance

By eliminating impurities, the ethanol additive allows the car engine to perform better as a result of being cleaner.

How the ethanol additive works

In short, the ethanol additive acts in a beneficial way on the car engine, eliminating dirt and facilitating friction between the parts.

This action increases the engine’s durability, since its parts are less damaged when operating without the interference of waste.

Environment

In addition to the benefits for the engine, “detergent” fuels also have environmental advantages. This is because, by cleaning the inside of the car, the vehicle will emit fewer pollutants, helping to preserve the ecosystem.

Maintenance

Recurrent engine cleaning, caused by the use of additive ethanol, can reduce vehicle maintenance costs. This is because by eliminating impurities, the chances of engine damage are reduced, which can generate savings on maintenance.

However, it is important to know that the use of any detergent fuel does not replace preventive maintenance of the car, and that periodic inspections are still necessary, ensuring the safety of the driver and other individuals on the road.

Can any vehicle use it?

In general, any vehicle that runs on ethanol, that is, those that use only alcohol or vehicles that are flex-fuel, can use additive ethanol.

There are no restrictions on its mixture and additives, since the only difference is the extra cleaning and lubrication of the engine.

Does ethanol additives improve performance?

Just like gasoline additives, the use of ethanol additives does not improve the performance of the vehicle, whether it is a flex-fuel or not. As mentioned, the only differences provided by this fuel are the cleaning and lubrication of the engine. Therefore, anyone who wants to purchase the fluid in order to improve the performance of their car is making a big mistake.

Are the benefits worth it?

There are still many divergences regarding the use of ethanol additives. The truth is that ethanol additives do have benefits inherent to the cleaning and performance of the engine, since it acts as a solvent and lubricant.

However, the arguments against the use of this fuel concern the low harmfulness of regular ethanol to the car engine, especially in flex-fuel vehicles. When compared to gasoline, it is clear that ethanol produces very little residue in the car engine, making cleaning almost unnecessary.

Considering the price

Although the waste produced by ethanol is minimal, it does exist, and over time its accumulation can damage engine parts. Of course, for flex-fuel cars, the use of gasoline can bring greater impurities to the engineering, and this is where additive ethanol comes in as a good alternative.

On the other hand, in engines that use only ethanol, cleaning is not as necessary as in gasoline-powered cars, and in these cases it is interesting to consider the price difference between regular ethanol and additive ethanol.

Considering this is important because any cleaning, even if small, will bring benefits to the car. Therefore, it is important to weigh up the prices of both fuels, and if additive ethanol is not much more expensive than regular ethanol, there will be no harm in opting for detergent fuel.

Is it advantageous to resell?

Some gas stations have been offering additive ethanol for a long time, considering that this fuel is indeed a good alternative for flex-fuel engines.

For this same reason, it is advantageous to sell ethanol with additives, but due to the lack of knowledge among many, it is necessary to promote this fuel, as well as the benefits it provides.

How to sell more

To ensure the sale of ethanol with additives at gas stations, it is important that the promotion is done in a clear and transparent manner with the consumer. In addition, it is essential that the attendants, as well as the other employees at the station, know the benefits provided by this fuel, so that they can answer customers’ questions if necessary.

From there, the station just needs to offer this product, which must also be of quality, so that it can sell and improve its profits.
